- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- ½ teaspoon salt
- 1 cup unsalted butter softened
- ¾ cup brown sugar packed
- ¾ cup granulated sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup pastel-colored chocolate candies such as M&M's
- ½ cup white chocolate chips optional
